Getting started
A brief introduction to Parsify Desktop.

Introduction

Parsify Desktop is a text-based calculator, meaning it evaluates different expressions you type.
It has a lot of features built-in and can be extended even further using plugins, but let's start with some basics, shall we?
Main app screen

Headers, comments, labels

To make your notes more organized & readable you can use headers, comments and labels which will not be evaluated by the app:
1
# This is a header |
2
|
3
// This is a comment |
4
|
5
Label: 12+5 | 17
Copied!

Math

You can type both basic and advanced mathematical expressions and the results will appear on the right. Constants, like pi or e are supported. Instead of sign operators, like +, -, * and / , you can also use words - plus, minus, times, divided by.
1
# Basic stuff
2
12+5 | 17
3
2 * (3/4) | 1.5
4
1000 times 2 | 2000
5
|
6
// Something more advanced... |
7
sin(30 deg) | 0.5

Variables

Declare variables and reuse them later, saving time and improving readability.

4
sqrt(x * 2) | 2

Since version 1.7.2 you can use non-latin characters in variable names, such as й or 本.

Units

Parsify Desktop supports unit conversion. Common length, volume, mass, force, and energy ones are included. If that's not enough, you can also add your own using the Unit Manager (feature requires activation).

Date and time

You can define and manipulate date / time events in a readable form.

3
|
4
2 weeks from today | 09/11/2021 08:40
5
sunday evening | 09/12/2021 20:00
6

Copied!
You can configure the output date format in the Preferences.

Time zone

Parsify allows you to display time zone information, just like in the example below (feature requires activation).
1
# Current date: |
2
now | 09/11/2021 08:40
3
|
4
time in New York | 02:40 EDT |

You can configure whether the output should display the time zone abbreviation (e.g.EDT), or the detailed name (e.g. America/New_York).
Please note that obtaining the time zone time using the short abbreviation (e.g.PST) is currently not supported due to them not being precise.
